How to Hit a Vibora in Padel

4 video lessons

The aggressive spin overhead, broken down.

Quick answer & tips ▾

The vibora is a more aggressive cousin of the bandeja. You hit the ball a little further to the side and slightly lower, brushing across it to create heavy sidespin and slice, so it skids low off the side glass and is hard to return.

Because it carries more risk, the vibora works best on lobs that are not too deep. Keep your preparation the same as the bandeja, so opponents cannot read which one is coming, and accelerate through contact rather than muscling it.

Key tips

  • Contact the ball to the side of your body, not overhead.
  • Brush across the back of the ball for sidespin.
  • Aim at the side glass or the corner.
  • Use the same preparation as your bandeja to disguise it.

FAQ

Is the vibora harder than the bandeja?
Yes. It needs more timing and wrist acceleration, so most coaches teach the bandeja first.
Where should you aim a vibora?
Usually toward the side glass or the corner, so the ball skids low and away from the opponent.
