Fun drills and lessons for young players and their parents.

Kids learn tennis best through play. For young children, the goal of the first lessons is not perfect technique but enjoyment, coordination and lots of successful contacts with the ball.

If you are a parent starting at home, begin with the introductory videos: simple rules, how to set up a first lesson, and games that build hand-eye coordination. Use slower red or orange balls and a smaller court whenever you can; they make rallies possible far sooner and are the standard in modern junior development.

Coaches and parents of slightly older kids will find drill sessions, footwork games and easy forehand, backhand and serve progressions. Keep sessions short and varied, celebrate effort, and let children play real points early. As juniors progress, the stroke pages on this site (forehand, backhand, serve) and the footwork lessons are the natural next step.
